TAC
Ask for the laminate construction, thickness, optical test results and durability checks. Compare the actual sample and quote rather than assuming a low-cost tier.
LENS GUIDE / FISHING EYEWEAR
A useful lens brief starts with the water, the light and the person wearing it.
A polarising filter reduces reflected glare from surfaces such as water. It does not remove every reflection, and polarisation alone is not proof of UV protection. Ask for separate test evidence for both.
02 / WATER & LIGHT
Use the water as a starting point. Choose the finished lens by its base tint, light transmission and test data.

| Water | Base tint to explore | Mirror option | Light to consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Offshore | Grey | Blue mirror | Bright, open water |
| Inshore | Copper | Green mirror | Bright to variable |
| Freshwater | Copper / amber | With or without mirror | Variable light and shade |
| Low-light brief | Lighter amber / rose | Evaluate the complete lens | Check measured VLT first |
Mirror colour is not the base tint. A colour name alone does not establish VLT, UV protection or polarisation performance. This is a discussion guide, not a BAYROVE stock specification.
TAC, CR-39 and PC are not a ranking of polarisation quality. Compare the complete lens construction, optical quality, durability, tested performance and quoted cost.

A plastic lens material associated with good optical clarity. Check finished-lens impact performance and the polarising construction; the material name is not a test report.
Polycarbonate is a lightweight, impact-resistant material. Check optical distortion, coatings and the finished model’s test results. It does not automatically make the eyewear safety-rated.
An outward-facing finish. Specify it separately from the base tint and evaluate the complete lens.
Helps reduce unwanted reflections on the back surface. It serves a different purpose from the polarising filter.
Helps water bead and makes cleaning easier. Ask how the coating is tested and how it should be maintained.
These checks cover different things. No single report establishes every requirement for a market, and no BAYROVE model is claimed certified here.
FDA impact-resistant lens requirements include 21 CFR 801.410. A drop-ball result addresses impact resistance; it is not blanket FDA approval or a UV-performance certificate.
FDA ↗ISO 12312-1 covers sunglasses for general use. Confirm the applicable EN adoption, amendments, conformity documents and labelling for your destination; a test report alone is not the full conformity process.
ISO ↗The mandatory sunglasses standard draws on parts of AS/NZS 1067.1:2016. Check testing and category labelling. Category 4 lenses are unsuitable for driving.
ACCC ↗A green mirror does not tell you what the view through the lens looks like. Request the base tint and a sample.
Check measured visible light transmission (VLT), not a “low light” colour name. Dark sunglasses are unsuitable for night driving.
Ask for model-specific UV and polarisation results. One claim does not establish the other.
